Overview:

The Germans launched a night attack that struck the boundary on the right flank of the US 504th Parachute Regiment and the left flank of the 1st Regiment, First Special Service Force. Supported by engineers of the Hermann Goring Panzerpionier-Regiment carrying potable bridging equipment, the 7.Luftwaffeabteilung zur besonderen Verwendung (7th Air Force Special Employment Battalion) pushed a company assault with the aim of crossing the Mussolini Canal.
