Overview:
The 2/6th Queen's battalion under Lt. Col. Keighley from the 169th Brigade was assigned the task of securing the Montecorvino airfield. Facing them were the men from the 2nd Battalion, 10th Panzer Grenadier Regiments. Unfortunately, the Shermans from 'C' Squadron Royal Scots Greys assigned to support the Queen's were delayed at the beaches, forcing the men from the Queen's to attack across open terrain. That attack failed. Now supported by the tanks, the Queen's infantry tried again. The well dug in panzer grenadiers has their own armor support, some now hidden among the wreckage of burning planes.Attacker: British (2/6th Queen's Royal Regiment, 169th Brigade and C Squadron, Scot's Greys)
