Overview:

After securing the hill mass in the area overtop of the railroad tunnel, Captain Peters and Fox Company, with just some 90 effectives among them including the mortar-men, runners and ammo-bearers being used as riflemen, and several wounded men who refused evacuation, men such as Corporal Welden Harris who had been twice wounded, were ordered to push eastwards to secure what Marines called "The Finger" a tendril of a ridge which jutted southwards out of the east side of Smith's Ridge and whose tip pointed toward the main railroad line which ran between Seoul and Kaesong.
