Overview:

"In The Crosshairs" -- After taking control of Oslo, German forces disembarked in Norway and headed north to reach the port of Trondheim. General Pellenghar divided his 196.Infanterie-Division into two Kampfgruppen which followed the parallel valleys of Gudbransdal and Osterdal. Norwegian troops, well adapted to the terrain but poorly armed following the loss of their arsenals, withdrew, hoping for Allied aid. On April 22, the Hermann Goering Regiment augmented with an ad-hoc motorized group, was charged with opening the road from Ostredahl to Kampfgruppe Fischer, preventing the Norwegians from blocking the passage. The first few days went by without a hitch and without loss. However, from the 25th on, the Norwegian resistance hardened and the Germans learned to fear the precision of the enemy shooters. On the 28th, the company of Captain Funck, supported by two tanks, cleared the village of Naaverdalen, then advanced cautiously towards the damaged bridge.
