2022-11-07(A) Andy Bagley vs Gordon Jupp Vichy French winInteresting scenario, unusual in that there are three boards with action happening almost everywhere. In the North, a small group of elite Brits has to defend a small cluster of buildings from a larger force of green Vichy French supported by FT-17 tanks. This they did successfully for me, inflicting heavy losses and holding the buildings. Meanwhile, a larger action takes place further south, with British 1st line troops attacking a fortified Vichy position in a small village, both side having artillery. Here I started well enough with a barrage of smoke, but then faltered when the smoke ran out and I found myself having to cross fairly open ground against well-positioned artillery and firelanes. My two supporting Valentine tanks were both knocked out and heavy losses left me with insufficient forces to make progress.
VCs require the Brits to take seven buildings; two are already held in the north, two more are open for the British to take on Turn 1, so my plan was simply to take the remaining three in the main village. This was probably a mistake. I might have done better to go after two other VC buildings much further away, using carriers and the Tetrach light tanks, which would have left me just needing one from the main village. Anyway, a good scenario with plenty of choices and lots to do for both sides.
2021-12-07(D) Ian Morris vs Martin Mayers British winAn enjoyable game, marred by poor play from me. Good win for Martin, who made no mistakes.
2021-07-19(D) Ian Morris vs Derek Cox British winVery enjoyable scenario, infantry of both sides charging in every direction and the outcome in doubt until the final player turn. Recommended.
