Overview:

The Civil War in Spain was not yet a year old and it had already devolved into a conflagration of unprecedented violence, even by the standards of a civil war. As the clash of two fundamentally opposing ideologies, the conflict in Spain attracted volunteers from countries all over the world, eager to sacrifice themselves in the name of a cause they considered to be greater than themselves. One such group of Men was Mussolini's Volunteer Corps, which Italian commander General Mario Roatta, deployed as part of Franco's effort to encircle Madrid. On March 8th, they attacked the understrength 50th Brigade, 12th Division of the of the People's Republician Army near Guadalajara. Leading the assault was a terrifying new weapon : the L3 Lanciafiamme, a flamethrowing tankette.

2025-04-29(A) Mark McG vs Dave Wilson Republicans winOne of the few scenarios I've ever seen where the Victory Conditions are made harder by random adversity results.
10 Buildings from 13 is a pretty high ask to start with, and having an extra building for each Italian AFV eliminated, immobilised or recalled simply makes a a hard task harder. Seems perverse to have a Victory condition that encourages you NOT to use AFV assets.
In my case, the FT tank as destroyed by a double 1 TK on a FT tank MA, and both L3 MAs rolled 11s on attacks, all on Turn 1. Bad luck.. and attempted to repair once, and rolled a 6. Recall.

Not helped by the Italian infantry attacks consistently missing on 12fp +0 attacks.

Gave this one up on Turn 4, needs a re-balance of the VC.

2023-03-12(D) Jobbo Fett vs RootinPutin Republicans winPlayed with the balance for the Nationalists/Italians - who were decimated by an unruly number of 3's and 5's on the IIFT. The Flamethrower Tankette did as much as possible to harm the defenders, but constantly rolling above 7 meant that there simply wasn't a way to reliably break the defender, while Italian troops couldn't prevent the troops from breaking and losing ground. Hand-to-Hand combat claimed several squads on both sides, but ultimately there simply wasn't enough time to take the required objectives. Dice played a major part in this outcome.
2022-05-07(D) Dave Mareske vs Dan Best Republicans winBroke the kill stack with the MMG and HMG early and they never came back. The FT Tank was able to do a fair amount of damage throughout the village, but the Italians ran out of infantry in order to take buildings.
