Overview:
The “Satan” flamethrowing tank made its combat debut on Saipan, where 24 such vehicles served with the 2nd and 4th Marine Divisions. On the first day of the battle, the Satans saw little use. But on day two, they went forward in the front line of the advance, supported by regular tanks and infantry. The Marines advanced thru rocky, hilly terrain, swarming with snipers and held by numerous pillboxes, fortified caves, and entrenchments.Attacker: American (USMC) (Forward elements of the 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division)
