Overview:

The XLVIII Panzerkorps’ first objective was the Psel River – some 30 miles away. To accomplish this mission, Großdeutschland would need strong panzer support on both flanks in order to force an immediate breakthrough. But that also meant cracking the nut that is Cherkasskoye; a village three miles behind the Großdeutschland’s start line, whose elaborately camouflaged defenses were manned by the 67th Guards Rifle Division.

2022-12-17(A) Robert Wiebe vs German win

(VASL Log)		A monster scenario took me about 25+ hours to set up and play solo using VASL. Russians set up in-depth on their eastern flank, so I punched the Germans through their weaker western flank, but it still took seven turns to work through the wire and the mines. After that, it was fairly easy to exit off the North edge. Russian reinforcements, including 10 x 527s riding on T34s arrived in turns 6 & 7 but were unable to stem the tide. The single-shot T34s, even with intensive firing quickly melted under the 75L and 75LL long guns; panthers and Px IV's ordinance was just too devastating, and German OBA kept them under smoke a lot. By Turn 11 I was able to exit almost 200 CVP off the board. Still very enjoyable.
2022-12-09(A) Tom Kearney vs Lindsey Murillo German winLet there be no doubt, this is a monster. The Germans refused the right flank and launched a schwerepunkt on the left. The Russians were overrun after a breach was made and the Germans bum rushed along the western side of the map. The game lasted 9.5 turns but took three sessions to complete. By the top of the 10th the Russians had little to stop the German advance. HUGE scenario.
