Overview:
Lt. Col. Douglas B. Drysdale, commander of the 41 (Independent) Commando, Royal Marines, arrived with 234 of his men in Koto-ri on the afternoon of 28 November. He was soon tasked by Col. Lewis "Chesty" Puller, commanding the 1st Marines, to lead a task force of his men-including Company G, 3rd Battalion. 1st Marines, Company B, 1st Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, and Marine support and headquarters personnel from the 1st Marine Division-eight miles north to reinforce U.S. Marines who were surrounded and besieged in the key town of Hagaru-ri. At 0930 in the morning of 29 November, Drysdale and his column, given the designation "Task Force Drysdale," loaded up in trucks of the 7th Motor Transport Battalion, Service Company, 1st Tank Battalion, and the Army's 377th Transport Truck Company, and initiated their attack northwards.Attacker: British (RM) (Task Force Drysdale, 41 (Independent) Commando, Royal Marines (attached), 1st Marine Division)
