Overview:

By the 28th of May, Colonel Yamasaki was running out of options, supplies, and manpower. Col. Yamasaki planned a final all-out attack against the American forces on Attu using the remaining 800 of so of his men that could still walk, crawl or otherwise even carry a stick. His men were now starving, running out of ammunition. The target of this attack was the American 105mm howitzer emplacements located on a hill overlooking Massacre Bay.

2023-05-18(D) Andy Bagley vs Neil Brunger Japanese winOK, I admit I just fancied playing this because it's such an obscure theatre of WW2. I'm told it plays rather like KW in having hordes of mediocre-grade enemy troops (in this case Japanese) attacking a few well-armed Americans. In this game my opponent entered most of his troops towards the northern end of the mapboard, and I held these pretty well. But I didn't leave myself enough to stop his reinforcements, which entered on the southern end and basically ran straight down hexrow GG. Tricky decision for the Americans as well about what to do with the dozer: do the two heroes man it and attempt to drive away under fire, or do they (as I did) leave it and gift the Japanese some VPs? Interesting scenario anyway.
