Overview:

The 100th Division, part of General Alexander Patch's 7th Army, was advancing through the Low Vosges mountains towards German positions around the Maginot Line fortifications at Bitche. What Colonel Andrew Tycheson of the 399th Regiment did not know was that their adversary, Generalmajor Alfred Philippi, commander of Volksgrenadier-Division 361-a veteran of the Russian Front and recipient of the Knight's Cross-had correctly surmised that the American advance would proceed along the main road leading through Lemberg to Bitche, so he concentrated his forces there.

2025-02-13(A) X von Marwitz vs Chris Hofland American winA very detailed AAR for my playing can be found at Gamesquad forum under the following link (if you're logged in there...):

https://www.gamesquad.com/forums/index.php?threads/ap194-not-fade-away-aar.202661/

Played this as the Americans and managed a win.
2024-11-13(D) Ian Morris vs Martin Mayers American winAnother close game. Martin only took one building, but ensured he took a lot of prisoners, and squeaked a win by one or two VP.
2024-09-25(D) Ian Morris vs Ian Ainsworth German winPlayed over two sessions, and I dicebotted Ian in both of them. It was still close at the end : in the final turn, the Americans had a 3:1 CC to take a building for an 8-point swing in VP to win the game, but gacked the roll.
2024-05-13(A) Andy Bagley vs Josh Kalman German winSecond time playing this scenario, no American balance this time and a fairly comfortable German win. All credit to my opponent for a very good setup with both Guns on the hilltop, and falling back very slowly giving my infantry very little opportunity for advancing fire. I also had no luck with Smoke or WP from my tanks, and very few successful MCs. By turn 5 the Americans found themselves outnumbered by the remaining German defenders and with no chance of achieving victory, so I conceded.
2024-04-04(D) Craig Renier vs Ed Barnes German winHero creation, snakes on a 1-6 CC, successful PF check followed by a hit, were just a few of the German positive outcomes leaving the Americans with heavy losses vs no losses for the Germans.
2024-03-29(D) Richard Jenulis vs Dan Sullivan American win'24 Chicago Open (round 2). The Americans pushed hard on their right flank. The first two-thirds of the game went very well for the Germans. I was able to turn the American left flank and had them pinned on board 91. Things went so well, that it felt the Americas were on the edge of failing their personal moral check. Then, the game pivoted on a dime and everything fell apart for the Germans. I called it on after the Defensive Fire Phase of turn 7. Two key events that helped turn the tide was a Sherman flaming the AA Halftrack, and the German AT gun that hit a Sherman half a dozen times with no effect. The crew was eliminated and a squad took over and totally wrecked the gun. Very fun game
2024-03-02(A) Asad Rustum vs Jesper Orland American win
2024-02-12(D) Michael Rodgers vs Magnus Rimvall German winAmericans lost two leaders early. It slowed them down too much.
2024-02-06(A) John Garlic vs Burnie Fox German win
2024-02-02(A) Eric Partizan Eric vs American win19 US VP vs 15 German VP
The building 92K7 is the key building (9VP)
2024-01-13(D) Larry Rohlfing vs Ed Barnes German win
2024-01-11(D) Andy Bagley vs Simon StaniforthA American winWe gave the Americans the balance in this one, which probably made a significant difference. With the extra turn available, the American began slowly and cautiously with plenty of smoke, so managed to cross the first road with no significant losses. Thereafter they picked up the pace, surrounding my defenders at every opportunity to take prisoners; they also managed to blind my MMG and leader on level 2 of the 3-hex victory building with repeatedly successful smoke rounds. Against this I was unable to mount a consistent defence, and was virtually annihilated by American Turn 6, when I conceded. A good game though, and very well played by my opponent.
2024-01-11(A) Simon Staniforth vs Andy BagleyA American winAndy has already commented on this game and I would agree that the knowledge of having that extra turn through the balance made a big difference to pace of the American attack. You could push but didn’t have to go hell for leather. I pushed HS forward to find the mines (which were defending the path exit area from the B91 valley) and once located I was able to be more aggressive with squads and stacks moving forward. Some breaks in the early game - it’s brush and low TEM woods you are attacking through - but they rally back quickly and once into the buildings their superior firepower told on the defending Germans. Archive playings recorded so far are favouring the Germans, I wouldn’t be confident of a win in a replay without the Balance
2023-12-04(D) neal ekengren vs USA German winA good take the buildings scenario. I have played this a couple times. Germans favored. Time is the issue. Both games I played USA comes up just short at the end but the Germans don't have anything left. The key is the 3 hex building worth 9VP and pretty much needed to tip the balance in your favor. This building only has a stairwell towards the rear so to enter this building and clear it you will need to arrive earlier than the last 2 turns and cross open ground to get there. good luck.
2023-11-01(A) Eric Partizan Eric vs German win
2023-10-28(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins German win
2023-10-28(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German winMy Americans struggled for inch of ground and by Turn 6 had reached the final road and German MLR...and didn't have any chance of taking enough points to win the game. The Germans should be able to win this one by delaying the Americans and inflicting losses on the Tanks. Do that and the Americans can't get enough points to win.
