Overview:
On 30 November 1939, Soviet forces invaded Finland with 21 Divisions. totaling 450,000 men. They were not prepared. Poorly trained, poorly led, ill-equipped and lacking any proper preparation for continuous winter combat operations, the Russians suffered egregious losses as the tenacious Finns refused to go quietly into the night. Due to their sheer strength in numbers, the Soviets reached the prepared positions of the Mannerheim Line by December 6th. Along this storied front, the Russians would pay dearly for their brutish early-war tactics.Attacker: Russian (9th Army, 44th Infantry Division, Red Banner Rifle Division)
