Legio Patria Nostra | Craig Renier | German | 2020-12-15 | Won | The German Panzergrenadler Regiment 67 was in town Northeast and West of the captured machine gun nest in the castle in the center of town to stop the flanks of the Free French Divisions coming from the South. In addition, setting up an AA and AT gun opposite of the castle in the center for harassment fire. When the campaign opened the German regiment luckily wiped out squads both East and West on the initial advancing front causing the Free French to advance through the center. The German luck continued as the easily broke the Free French flanks continually. The Free French made a late push to the buildings below the castle; however, with the German Eastern flank holding strong the Germans came away with a victory. | 7 |
Once the Americans were able to mass their (massive) FP along the river on either side of the footbridge, those two FGs were soon DMd and the route to victory was open.
This scenario is the SK version of a couple of ASL scenarios, one of which is in the mini HASL "Hell's Corner." IIRC, both of the ASL versions are difficult for the Americans to win. However, IMO this SK version is tilted noticeably in favor of the Americans.
That imbalance, coupled with unlucky dice, was more than Bob could overcome.
