Overview:

On D-Day of Operation Torch, the 2nd Battalion Landing Team (BLT) had in part the critical mission of capturing the coastal defenses of Mehdia before daylight. The Vichy French resisted the landings. In the fight the GIs were unable to halt their own naval gunfire support and could not close with the defenders. Later in the morning, a misunderstanding caused the green and shaken unit to advance about a thousand yards eastward into a village. Shortly thereafter it came under counterattack by westward moving French reinforcements. . .
Attacker: Vichy French (Reinforced elements of 2ème Bataillon, 1er Régiment de Tirailleurs Marocains)
Defender: American (2nd Battalion Landing Team, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division)

2020-09-19(D) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval American winMMG on Rooftop kept mowing down the French. Tight defensive line in center of village kept the attackers at arms length and DM until French lost their nerve and all hope in Turn 5.
2020-09-18(A) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval American winAll French kept breaking and no one wanted to Rally. It was an embarrassing fiasco from the beginning. All hope was definitely lost by turn 5.
2020-08-15(A) Dan Best vs Dave Mareske American winWith Mark Fischer as the French. Kansas City ASL Club game day.
2020-03-06(D) David Ramsey vs Neil Brunger American winThis scenario seems hard for the French. There’s a lot going on and they have plenty of options to attack, but the coordination of towed guns, green troops, fickle oba and the choice of entry turns and areas gives them a lot to think about.

I won this but it was hard to see how the French could have done better.
2020-03-06(A) Ian Morris vs John Martin Vichy French winLack of SW on rooftops allowed me to get forward rapidly and cheaply. French harassing fire was glorious for one fire mission, then two red chits. He conceded when a 6 up 3 attack pinned his 9-2 and broke the HMG stack.
