Overview:

On D-Day of Operation Torch, the 2nd Battalion Landing Team (BLT) had in part the critical mission of capturing the coastal defenses of Mehdia before daylight. The Vichy French resisted the landings. In the fight the GIs were unable to halt their own naval gunfire support and could not close with the defenders. Later in the morning, a misunderstanding caused the green and shaken unit to advance about a thousand yards eastward into a village. Shortly thereafter it came under counterattack by westward moving French reinforcements. . .
Attacker: Vichy French (Reinforced elements of 2ème Bataillon, 1er Régiment de Tirailleurs Marocains and 1er Régiment de Chasseurs d'Afrique)
Defender: American (2nd Battalion Landing Team, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division)

2021-09-05(D) Eric Topp vs Ron Oxford American winMy Americans dug lots of foxholes but Ron was still able to pin/break them with his OBA. On turn 7, he made a major push and came close to capturing five buildings. Because neither side could reject Surrender, the stack of units in one CC battle for a VC building included 3.5 prisoner squads. Ron wasn't able to grab the fifth VC building and conceded figuring that he couldn't inflict enough CVP on my remaining units.
2020-09-11(A) Ric Hammond vs Guy Jimenez DrawBLECH, We are not having fun. To much open space for French to run through. 8 broken squads by Turn 5. We called it a draw.
2020-08-15(D) Dave Mareske vs Dan Best, Mark Fischer American winThe Vichy OBA devastated the American lines and they never drew a red card until those were the only ones left. However, there were enough Americans left to deny the building victory and the Vichy came up 4 CVP short for the end game victory. The Americans had some good rate shots with the HMG and the Vichy never got a good shot on their rooftop vantage as the OBA concentrated on the north end of the village. Mark and Dan divided up the Vichy forces in this KCASL Club game day slug-fest!
2020-04-29(A) nathan wegener vs Paul Works American winReally tough for Vichy against competent US defense with the weapons on the roof. Key might be to go very slow and careful early to minimize exposure. OBA is critical to the attack and mine did very little despite getting 3 missions.
2020-04-29(D) Paul Works vs Nathan Wegener American winVichy have a long way to go to get to the VC area. They need to count on their artillery to do some damage and/or smother the U.S. defenders in smoke. His OBA broke a couple units, but could not get more of my Americans hunkering down in the buildings. My mortars, HMG, and MMG did signifcant damage to his infantry and trucks. One HMG-shot (a 1-1/2 minus 3, at 17 hex range...) rolled a "2" and KIA'd a crew pushing one of the 75 ARTs, malfunctioning the Gun to boot. By the time he got his tanks on board and other 75 Gun set up to keep me off the roofs, his infantry had taken too many losses. tough on the Vichy.
