Overview:

In the days following Operation Spring, the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division conducted several short but sharp engagements to improve their positions. One such position was the adjoining villages of St. Andre-sur-Orne and St. Martin-de-Fontenay. The Canadians held the southeast portion of St. Andre and all of St. Martin except the church on the southern outskirts. Brigadier H.A. Young wanted the church taken. He believed the objective could be taken by a company of infantry supported by engineers.

2020-09-07(D) Jason Nichols vs Eric Topp German (SS) winCanadians popped smoke on my concealed MMG on level two of church on turn one but malf'd the mortar on turn two. The German sniper took out a leader and the Canadians took a number of casualties for no loss to the Germans. Dice rolls were not kind to the Canadians and they resigned at end of turn two.
2020-09-01(A) Dmitry Klyuykov vs Fedor Grachev Canadian win
2020-07-24(D) Mike Whittemore vs Sébastien German (SS) winSéb and I are still learning the system so don't make the greatest choices. Séb established a ring of Canadians in the buildings surrounding the church, and I had withdrawn all units into the church. I had a lucky route/rally allowing me to tie together a strong fire group that obliterated his main force. He decided he had too many broken units to continue and conceded. One thing we agreed is that he should have been using his mortar to drop heavy smoke in front of the church, instead of lugging it around like a suitcase. That's on me since I am both learning and teaching the game. Since this scenario is so simple we agreed to play it a few more times to try to get our chops.
2020-06-24(A) David Garvin vs Paul Washington German (SS) winI got off to a pretty terrible start as my 2 inch mortar failed to get SMK and then switched to HE.
My approach was pretty good and Paul was kind enough to have me create a hero. That said, I was unable to break into the church.
I probably unwisely went to my right to try to break in; that said, Paul had an MMG covering that other approach.
Great fun
2020-05-17(A) Michael Davey vs German Canadian winGame was in the balance going into last turn
