Overview:

The Soviet 139th Rifle Division – 20,000 troops supported by 147 artillery pieces and 45 tanks – crossed the border on all available roads leading to Tolvajarvi, a key road junction defended by 4,200 scattered Finnish reservists. Cavalry Reserve Lt. Toivianen was celebrating his forty-fifth birthday that grim morning in Artahuhta, near the border post of Myllyjarvi. His men had gathered to congratulate him and present him with a new fountain pen. He had just made his acceptance speech when the sound of heavy artillery echoed from the direction of the border. Mounting immediately, Toivianen and his squadron galloped to join the fifteen border guards defending the post.

2021-05-09(A) Rob MacGinley vs Ian Willey Finnish winThe Russians were cut to bits each attack they launched
I was slowly whittled down to an ineffective force
Fins were supermen
2021-04-24(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval Russian winFinns rushed all units to help defend their forward HIP positions. They kept the Russians stalled on board 4 until Turn 7 when eventual overwhelmed by cheeky Russian attacks. Russians then managed to Recover a couple Horse counters to Gallop onto Board 3 for last VC.
2021-04-24(D) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval Russian winThe Finns tried to stop the Russians on board 4 by rushing all units forward to aid in the defense. Ended up providing the Russians with the horses required to get into the village and easily occupy the VC buildings.
2020-04-16(A) Eric Partizan Eric vs Russian win
2019-06-05(D) Jeff B vs Shaun Andrews Finnish winA big old school scenario that didn't even see contact with the enemy until the end of Turn 2. Unfortunately for the Russians this contact involved a 3KIA shot, wiping out their commissar and two squads. Turn 3 was almost as deadly, as they lost another 2.5 squads to my remaining HIP units around the roadblock and the ones making a stand behind the hedgerow. I lost a couple HS trying to recover my abandoned HMG the next Turn, but this proved worth the cost as those units held him at bay for the next few turns. I withdrew to the safety of the woods once his ACs and heavy weapons got within range. By this time it was almost mathematically impossible for him to get to the village in time, let alone wrest me out as I had maximally deployed.
