Overview:
In late March of 1945, Sepp Dietrich launched his well-blooded 6th SS Panzer Armee against Tolbuhkin's Third Ukrainian Army. No sooner had Dietrich begun his attack than Tolbuhkin trumped him with an even greater offensive. In the ensuing melee, the Ukrainians crushed the heavily outnumbered SS. The survivors fell back, hoping to stem the Soviet drive toward Vienna. Dietrich ordered a Kampfgruppe led by Lt.-Col. Fritz Hagen to fall back to a blocking position astride the main Budapest-Vienna highway. In the midst of a spring snowstorm, Tolbuhkin's spearhead smashed head-on into Hagen's tank-supported light infantry screen.Attacker: Russian (6th Guards Tank Army/Second Echelon)

2023-08-20 | (A) Kevin Duval | vs | Dwayne Duval | Russian win | As Russians I chose the exit VC. Avoiding as much direct conflict as possible allowed me to get past the defenders for the win.

2023-07-27 | (A) Asad Rustum | vs | Alex Koestler | German (SS) win | Partly due to incompetence and partly due to luck, the Russians lost 6 tanks in the initial three turns. Things looked a little brighter when the Russians got a good hold of the German infantry but that lock was broken and at the same time, the falling snow made any advance of the remaining Russian tanks a very tough task. The Russians conceded the game in turn 5.
2021-01-02 | (D) Tripp Killin | vs | Phil Watkins | German (SS) win (VASL Log) | I played the Germans. Things looked bad at the beginning as I had underestimated the speed of the Russian advance. My infantry was soon engulfed and mauled. The remnants retreated towards the town on board 10. But the HIP infantry took out a few tanks, and I chose good positions for my Panthers and half-tracks, meaning the Russian armor had no choice but to risk the fire at some point. Obviously, the Russian goal is to rush as many tanks and squads as possible onto the Panthers, and hope they miss, or at least don't retain ROF. I both hit and retained. By end of German Prep Fire of Turn 5, seven Russian AFVs were dead and no Panthers had been damaged. The bottlenecks on Board 10 at CC7 and AA2 and all the open ground below the Board 11 hill make this a very tough puzzle for the Russians despite their awesome superiority at start. An absolute blast, though. It's fun pushing those awesome tanks around.
2020-04-29 | (D) X von Marwitz | vs | Lars-Peder Jensen | German (SS) win | This action is set on 1. April 1945 in wintery Hungary pitting a massive armored Russian Guards force of 14 T-34/45, SU-85, IS-2, and ISU-122 with Riders and a Truck against an initial dispersed force of 6x 658 SS squads with three leaders and a Hero supported by two SPW 251/1 (yeah, that's the 'normal' one) and a HIP PSW234/4 with a circled B9 raised to 10 for its 75L gun. The Russians may secretly opt to either exit a number of VP or by Controlling a number of Stone Buildings in the village while not losing more than 12 AFV.
