Overview:

The success of Operation Bagration allowed a number of Russian units, including the Soviet 3rd Tank Corps, to make deep penetrations through the German lines. On July 31, the German 9th Army believed it was in position to cut off and destroy the Soviet 3rd Tank Corps near Wolomin. The Hermann Göring Division, en route from Italy, would play a significant role in the counter-offensive. Their task was to break through and join with the 4th Panzer Division to complete the encirclement. . .

2024-09-30(D) Dave Mareske vs Dennis Dowd Russian winRussians got lucky with one tank taking out three German tanks in one fire phase. With half the tanks gone and two more shocked the German player called the game early.

2022-10-27(D) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval German winRussians were lucky early on by knocking out a few German AFV. Although my Infantry got thrashed, I still felt confident with my reinforcements coming on ... this turned out to be my undoing. Being very brash & foolish, I full-on charged all AFV up close to try some intimidation techniques & was severely smacked around with multiple Wrecks leaving no question of the CVP advantage the Germans had for the win.

2022-07-11(A) Jeff B vs Phil Wentworth German win2 hrsRussians have a bit of a tall order, as they need to protect a lot of territory and will need a fair bit of luck to knock out the German armor. I came on with my infantry fairly evenly divided between the north, middle, and south. But my primary armor focus was on the Board 44. With the Russians having little real anti-tank weaponry, I was able to overwhelm the few upfront defenders in the middle and the south with armor, while my infantry poured in to support my armor. One Russian tank in the south was knocked out trying to extricate itself, while the HMG nest and sole other Board 44 tank in the middle were soon VBM-frozen and overrun by infantry. It was well on its way to looking like an easy German victory so the Russians called it after two turns.
