Overview:

As the drive on Warsaw continued, the 4th Panzer Division, with SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Regiment attached, was given new orders to attack through the Warsaw suburbs of the Bzura sector, at the bend of the Vistula River, to seal off the western approaches to the capital, which the desperate Polish High Command was trying to keep open for reinforcements fighting their way east. Occasionally the Polish defense crystallized in localized hedgehogs that slowed and sometimes stopped the increasing momentum of the German Blitzkrieg. One such place was Sochaczew, where elements of the 17th Infantry Division were determined the German onslaught would stop there.
Attacker: German (SS) (Bataillon 1, SS Regiment (mot.) Leibstandarte Adolph Hitler and Panzer Regiment 36, Panzer Division 4)

2023-09-17(A) Shane Pask vs Polish winSS conceded turn 6 with no plausible chance of victory. Poles placed two fortified buildings up front with a roadblock V7/W8 and this completely stopped the German advance on the north. Lots of extremely high and extremely low rolls. German radio missed contact twice before breaking. Pz IV malfed its MA first shot (later fixed), wind changed twice, and 5 heroes were created (including SSR hero) Final tally 34 to 23 VP with the German tally including 20 points for the rowhouses.

2013-08-06(D) Lee Bray vs Polish winThis is an early war city fight which made the situation quirky enough to be attractive. The SS are very tooled up, but the Poles are not to be sniffed at; in fortified buildings and narrow streets they're a tough nut to crack. In this game they made the SS pay for crossing the initial open ground and as they entered the first part of the built up area. An AC and tank went down to the AT gun which I set up in the middle and the HMG and 10-2 in the 2nd level building took its toll. I thought I was sitting pretty in the mid game, but then the SS pushed through en masse and captured the factory without too much trouble, though their attack on the other flank was pretty much stopped dead. The last turn or two saw the SS getting in close, although without most of their vehicles as all but two were wrecked, and the Poles starting to crumble. However, in the end it was a turn or two too late - victory in two ongoing Melee's would have brought the SS within 5 points of victory, but they failed in both and conceded with a player turn to go. An enjoyable scenario - I managed to avoid any effective OBA and my opponent had poor luck with his stuka.
2012-09-12(A) Vic Lauterbach vs Probably MA German (SS) winGermans have time to grind this one out. Got lots of smoke and avoided giving Poles any -2 FFNAM/MO shots. Final tally: Germans 27 CVP, 20 exit VP and control of 48 building locations.
