Overview:

As the majority of the 119th Infantry Regiment advanced into North Wuerselen, they left behind a reduced company deployed around a roadblock to protect their line of communication. There seemed little chance of significant action. Suddenly, as light began to fail, armed German halftracks struck at the small American force. . .

2025-04-21(A) Jonathan Plott vs Bill Ryder American winGained the victory hex in my last turn, only to be blown away by the Yanks Prep Fire at the start of their turn. Neat scenario to learn Half-tracks. Great game Bill!
2024-09-29(A) Vic Lauterbach vs JM German winI got the attacking Germans in this small classic. Jim's GIs struggled to pass MCs, so I took the VC hex in turn 4 with an 8-1 and 248 w/PSK but the HS was wiped out in Jim's next PFPh. In turn 5, I got a crew and then an 8-1 and 467 into 3Q8. Even though both were broken and routed out, Jim was unable to get his last armed, GO unit there from 3R6L1. I kept control [per A26.11] and got the win. Jim: My 6 ML GIs just couldn't pass enough MCs. Broken 666s that stood their ground became broken HS and when they routed, Vic's SPWs and 467s closed in on 3Q8. The final blow was losing a big Melee in 3Q7. The LV hindrance didn't help but wasn't a big factor. This is a solid little scenario more balanced than our game indicates.
2021-04-30(D) Jason Nichols vs Tim Reade American winIlluminating Rounds Tournament Round 1 - PBEM - I played the defending Americans and Tim was the Germans. I decided to play aggressively with the Americans and this paid off early with the destruction of a number of half-tracks. A missed bazooka shot at point blank range at a H/T on the right flank might have finished the game earlier. The +2 moving, +1 size and +1 LV modifiers reducing the To Hit number to a 5. Missed it by 1 so blamed the LV!
Tim managed to push into the centre of town only to have the H/T destroyed by the 9-2 leader and the MMG. A last ditch effort saw him capture the Victory hex by withdrawing a squad from CC. This was then supported by one of the turretted H/T's but neither side could do much damage.
It all came down to the final turn where I reinforced the melee in the Victory Hex with two full squads and the 9-2 leader. I needed to wipe him out as he had controlled it last. A squad had also advanced into CC with the H/T and destroyed it. The final CC resolved in the Americans' favour and they snatched a narrow win.
Thanks go to Tim for a good game and for his patience with my constantly forgetting to apply the +1 LV hindrance. A very enjoyable scenario. Log File submitted to IR.
2021-04-24(A) Dwayne Duval vs Morris Legge American winIlluminating Rounds tournament round 1: 2021. Germans got thoroughly diced for the duration of the game. It turned out to be great bazooka practice for the Americans.
2021-04-14(A) Tuomo Lukkari vs Paul Legg German win
