Overview:

Throughout the winter of ‘42–‘43, the Soviets launched repeated attacks to relieve the siege of Leningrad. The hard-pressed Germans rebuffed one attack after another, but in so doing, their lines became progressively thinner. Finally, the Germans had to develop a trip wire defense of light local forces, backed by a “fire brigade” mobile force, which was quickly dispatched to the inevitable breakthrough sector. Such a fire brigade was 1st Company, schwere Panzer Battalion 502, with ace tanker Cpt. Hans Bölter, who was called upon to halt a major Russian armored incursion by a full battalion of the 122nd Tank Brigade.

2016-07-26(D) Martí Cabré vs Nicolas Sabido German winThere is a huge swarm of 18 T-34 attacking 2 Tigers and 2 PzIII but the odds are on the Germans. The Tigers destroyed/immobilized 6 T-34 before they reached the final hill and then the PzIII, who had waited patiently, moved to the rear of the Russian tanks to engage them with HEAT ammo, with the AT gun covering one flank. The Russians managed to exit 3 tanks and had too many losses, tried to attack a Tiger but failed to produce APCR ammo and finally conceded on turn 5. Russian tally: 10 tanks destroyed (3 burning), 3 immobilized, 3 exited, 3 on good order on the map. Germans: 2 Tigers, 2 PzIII on good order on the map.
