Overview:

The airfield of Sola-Stavenger, situated on the southwest of Norway, was one of the first objectives of the invasion, having to serve as the main airbase against British shipping. The task of seizing it was given to Lt. von Brandis' third company. Despite the very heavy fog that covered the north of Germany, the operation was not cancelled and after a long blind flight over the sea, eleven Ju 52's emerged from the fog in sight of the coast. At 0920, the paratroopers were dropped from 400 feet onto the airfield.

2025-02-08(D) Jobbo Fett vs JobboFett Norwegian winA decent air drop with few losses allowed for the Germans to apply pressure quickly on the spread out defenses the Norwegians had set up. The need to run around to recover weapons, and a high number of poor landings forcing the paratroopers to split into half-squads made things a little tough for the aggressors, but nonetheless they fought their way onto both pillboxes and a lucky berserk roll (and an MMG-toting Norwegian squad cowering) allowed entry into the bigger of the buildings adjacent to the runway.

The Air Support failed to make a dent until a lucky shot forced a leader to go berserk, and subsequently berserking the squad he was paired with. Despite the loss of control of these units (and their eventual extermination), the Norwegians were able to hold on to the very last, surviving a 3-1 odds CC roll to retain control of the last building.

I think this scenario is rather fun and simple enough for most people to wrap their heads around the paratrooper landings without frustration. Balance wise, the German option should probably be to remove the need to get ALL buildings, or perhaps get an alternative win condition based on the map no longer having any good order Norwegian MMC, to prevent a melee cheese.

The paradrop was chaotic as expected. I had to spend a turn running around trying to get rearmed. After that, the stone buildings were really a pain. The fighter bombers did very little except on the next to last turn broke a squad. Luckily, Are also had a squad go berzerk - dying in the charge and leaving a building free with a MMG on the floor.

I was able to approach both pillboxes from out of LOS winning the CC rolls.

I made a huge mistake at the end. I could have moved an 8-1 leader into the final building that was in doubt. As it turns out, the -1 modifier would have matter greatly in that I only rolled low enough (at 2-1 odds) to halve his squad, leaving the building in his possession.

Nice mix of pillboxes , paradrop, and air support
