Overview:
The strongest of the US 3rd Armored Division's Task Forces, named for its commander, Lt. Col. William Lovelady, consisted of a battalion of tanks and a company of armored infantry. Ordered to move south to check the advance of the 1st SS Panzer Division, it drove down the valley of the Roannay stream, juts east of La Gleize, under cover of the mist. They eventually reached and cut the main road from La Gleize to Trois-Ponts. While some platoons were dispatched in support of the troops harassing the Germans dug in around the Marechal's Mill, E Company, under 1st Lt.
