Overview:
The Germans had just closed the door on Soviet troops trapped in the great Kiev pocket. An ever tightening grip was exerted as more troops were placed into the lone. Sporadic, disorganized attempts were made to break out of the encirclement. In a sector controlled by the 3rd Panzer Division, a stand off had developed.
