Following the fall of France the Vichy controlled mandates of Lebanon and Syria represented a grave threat to the Allied Middle East position. Following the British defeat in Greece this became an even more critical area and prompted the Anglo/Free French invasion of June 1941. The Allies enjoyed swift victories along the Litari River, Quneitria and at Damascus, but often done in an impudent and careless manner, allowing for strong Vichy counterattacks. The Vichy counterattack at the key road junction of Quneitria overwhelmed a British battalion that was isolated from its ammunition. . . .This is a fairly unique situation for ASL, a race from two directions. Both sides race across the boards in search of HIP Ammo Counters. The British have the advantage of moving first but are farther away, but they know where the counters are. The Vichy are closer which gives them a tactical advantage.
