The hardy glidermen of the 1st Battalion, the Border Regiment were entrusted with the defense of the western edge of a position in Oosterbeek, facing down the polyglot German formation known as "Division von Tettau". An early assault at the Sonnenburg Hotel was repulsed, albeit at heavy loss. Now it was C Company's turn. Bracing to receive the wrath of the flame-breathing beasts, French tanks converted to flamethrowers, the stout British defenders could now see that their ever-shrinking perimeter had turned into a burning ring of fire.Attacker: German (SS) (Elements of SS-Bataillon Eberwin, Panzer Kompanie 224., and Sturmgeschutz Brigade 280.)
