Overview:
In October 1944, the Soviet 53rd Tank Army launched an ambitious attack into Hungary, the purpose of which was to topple the "puppet" regime in Budapest. A swift German response to the Budapest Uprising prevented the complete defection of the Hungarian Army. Among the units sent to bolster the German presence in the Hungarian capital was the 503rd Heavy Tank Battalion, newly equipped with King Tiger tanks after its virtual destruction in France. On October 19, while the Hungarian 1st Infantry and 1st Cavalry Divisions launched vicious attacks on the Rumanian forces near Szolnok, the 503rd punched through the Hungarians and spearheaded directly into the defensive positions of the Soviet 243rd Rifle Division south of Turkeve. October 20th brought a resumption of the 503rd's attack, with Leutnant von Rosen's 3rd Company in the lead with his ten Tigers.Attacker: German (Elements of Kompanie 3., schwere Panzer Abteilung 503.)
