Overview:
General Wavell launched his last desert offensive, Operation Battleaxe. Wavell ordered a left flanking attack against Fort Capuzzo and Sollum which would isolate the defenders of Halfaya Pass. At the same time, Wavell planned on launching a frontal assault against the pass.
