Overview:

The Finnish attack to capture the vital crossroads at the village of Prääzä had stalled in front of the objective. To get the attack rolling Jalkavakirykmentti (Infantry Regiment) 50 was dispatched to outflank the defenders. After a march through the forests, it managed to cut the only open supply road north of Prääzä. When the 2nd Battalion was about to commence the advance towards Prääzä itself, it ran had on into Soviet units trying to break out.

2022-11-24(D) Jeff B vs John Fedoriw Finnish win6.25 hrsFinns did the smart thing I think by immediately making a break across the stream, except for a small force in the west staying to prevent any marauding Russians in that direction. Fearing the ATR, I was way too tentative with my tank, when instead I should've moved it up to lay smoke and provide cover. I also should've set myself up for human waves as soon as possible. Instead I thought I could soften him up with mass shooting, but that plan went awry with the help of awful dice. It wasn't until Turn 6 that I tried my first human wave, and it worked quite well as I established a bridgehead on the north bank. But with the AT minefield still in place it would be some time before I could really exploit it. Turn 7 proved much deadlier as I continued to have to feed bodies across the stream, but the bridgehead started to expand. Turn 8 I finally cleared the minefield, but I also X'd out my MA on an IF shot, and by this time there were still just too many Finns able to rush north to ring the road with bodies. Pretty tough VC for the Russians; they definitely need to be more aggressive than how I approached it.
2022-06-13(A) Jeff Wright vs Zeb Tinguely Finnish win
2021-12-18(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Finnish win
2021-12-18(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Finnish winWhat a miserable game. This was one I wish I hadn't played. I suck as the Russians on a good day...and with an ELR of 2 going into the woods against stealthy Finns...can I concede on Turn 1? My dice were pathetic and Dan's were hot. My Russians were trying to maintain concealment and lever the Finns back. Dan routed ahead of me successfully and smartly as the got 6 movement factors in the rout and was able to rally back quickly and stay in my face. Dan moved large number of boys back into the trench line as my Russians broke, ELR'd and disrupted with frightening rapidity. My Tank wouldn't start and stalled with back to back 11's. Then on Turn 4, I tried to start again and rolled boxcars. That was enough, I conceded and there was no way to win with my degraded infantry, entrenched and Concealed Finns and no tank. Good win for Dan.
2021-11-21(A) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval Russian winThe Finnish defense along the stream was quickly routed back along the forest road, and the they could not regroup afterwards. The remaining isolated defenders were cleaned up completely by the bottom of turn 7.
