Overview:

With the Salerno bridgehead secure, X Corps set out for Naples. A feint was made up the mountain road to Avellino but the main thrust went through the Sorrento peninsula. A steep, heavily wooded hill known as Point 270 had to be seized. An under strength battalion of about 120 men from the 29th Panzergrenadier Regiment occupied trenches near the crest. The very steep contours of Point 270 permitted only a frontal assault. With only scattered trees and scrub on the face of 270, a daylight attack seemed ill advised. Nevertheless, at noon the Coldstream companies attacked. . .

2022-03-17(A) Dan Best vs Mike Bistodeau German winGermans stayed behind the cliff for the win.
2020-06-25(D) Andy Goldin vs Gary Fortenberry German winIt's a straight up the middle attack by the Brits. Gary made good use of smoke but it didn't stop my hot dice from mowing-down the Guards like grass. The light mortar, HMG and MMGs all got KIA or K-results at different times throughout the game. Even so, he succeeded at reaching the hill by Turn 3 but by shuffling around my squads and re-occupying the trench line I placed in Q4/R3, I prevented him from getting to the victory hexes. I even managed to get my OBA to fire a mission, which his Guards shrugged off. Snipers were active for both sides, and did more damage in comparison. My German "Scharfschutzen" wounded his best leader and killed another, significantly limiting his ability to rally. It was over by the end of the British Turn 5 with a German win. ROAR shows this scenario is decisively pro-German, and now I see why....
2020-05-17(A) Maurizio Mai vs Gunny German winInteresting only infantry scenario. OBA has to enter the game. English do have a tough decision about the directions of the attack to the hill. In our scenario a little sniper at turn 2 hit the British killer stack (leader, hero, 3 MMC, HMG, MMG), killing the hero, wounded the leader, broke and casualty reduce one MMC, pin another one; this swing the outcome probabilities a bit. I will try to replay it.
