Overview:

The 5th Royal Gurkha Rifles were fighting a series of tough actions against the Japanese along the mountain peaks of Fort White. A crest on a ridge named Basha East was held by the Japanese and had to be taken. On the crest there was little cover and two assaults were repulsed. A third attempt was needed. This time Havildar Gaje Ghale rallied his platoon and confidently led them through mortar fire and into the Japanese defensive positions . .

2023-11-10(D) Mark Thompson vs Chip Wertenberger (Gurkhas) Gurkha winExciting game that went down to a final CC roll on the last turn, with Gurkhas prevailing. The Japanese had a three-layer defense along the hill complex, anchored on the two lines of Light Jungle and a line of Trenches from J4 to J6. The Gurkhas attacked straight down the middle in force. The Japanese made a decent fighting withdrawal, managed to break the 9-2 and nick the Gurkhas a bit, but found themselves whittled down to 2 squads/LMG/MTR on the last turn, with fairly predictable results thereafter. The Japanese HIP'd a full squad positioned in back of the trench system - a better strategy may have been to HIP 2 HS, and position them on either side of the hill complex, forcing the Gurkhas to disperse.

2010-10-08(A) Peter Palmer vs Kevin Meyer Japanese winASLOK XXV PTO Mini # 2
It was a fairly tight game in the early and mid-part but I gradually lost focus and Kevin won pretty conclusively in the end. But it was a good, fast game. Even so I was starting to suffer burnout and my PML was starting to suffer as my ELR dropped to 2 for the day. Yesterday was really bugging me and I wasn't looking forward to the Saturday mini at all.
