Overview:
The 3rd Battalion, 112th Infantry had been expelled from Schmidt and had retreated to Kommerscheidt to join up with the badly battered men of 15th Battalion. 28th Division HQ, seriously underestimating the situation, ordered the formation of a task force under Lt. Col. Ripple to cross the Kal Gorge, link up with the units in Kommerscheidt and then retake Schmidt. Attempting to use the Kall Trail, Task Force Ripple slammed headlong into elements of the 1055th Grenadiers and the 16th Panzer Regiment which had dug in to prevent just such a reinforcement of Kommerscheidt.Attacker: American (Task Force Ripple, 3rd Battalion, 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division and 707th Tank Battalion, 893rd TD Battalion)
