Overview:
On the Buda side of the river, the capture of Pest was followed by a week’s lull in the fighting. Beginning on the 20th, the efforts of the German relief were felt within the city. The Russian shelling almost ceased in the southern sector. The defenders were able to improve their defenses and launch limited counterattacks to regain key terrain.
