Overview:

As the German blitzkrieg moved through the Ardennes, the Belgian Chasseurs d'Arrdgennais fought a series of delaying actions. They were pressured from every side, until they finally reached the Meuse. There they were forced to move northward to maintain contact with the rest of the Belgian Army. . . . . The scenario takes place before the main effort at Dinant, with a single bridge still standing across the river. Most of the Belgian force starts out strung out along the east bank, covered by a handful of west bank units. German units come from all sides: armored cars from the north, the bulk of their infantry from the south, and a few units can come in from the east. The Belgians have to get most of their CVP across the river (to aid in this effort, they have 6 wagons worth 3 CVP by SSR), then set DC on the bridge and blow it up. Otherwise the Germans win.

2023-04-26(A) Todd Cox vs German winCame down to the last turn. Belgians had placed DC on the bridge (Set Demo) and it failed to blow when the NTC failed. I did play the narrow streets incorrectly - used normal bypass instead of halved bypass bringing the wagons up. Initially the German PSW 231s had great success with overruns and knocking out the first two VCL Mk VI's, but the third VCL Mk VI destroyed several PSW's from across the river. French OBA didn't manage radio contact for a few turns, and when it did, pulled nothing but red chits. A fair amount of street fighting. Plenty of non-typical rules involved: OBA, steeples, street fighting, even scaled a cliff though the cliffs in this scenario present very few usable vantage points.

2021-10-21(A) Eric Topp vs John Fedoriw German winThis was my first game using the Dinant map. Not wanting to think too much I rolled randomly for the German Entry Areas. My AC and MTR entered in the north and everything else entered in the south. In hindsight, I think that the Germans should enter much closer to the bridge i.e. Entry Areas 2 and 3.

The Belgian rearguard tied up my German infantry for most of the game. Finally on turn 7, my German MG were in position to fire on the bridge. The last wagons Galloped (D12.4) towards the west edge but were cut down and John conceded.

This looks tough for the Allies as that 28 VP total is hard to achieve.
