Overview:

Between the 21st and the 22nd of May, the twelve bridges in the sector occupied by the 87th African Infantry Division were destroyed in order to avoid a rapid German incursion. The French set up numerous artillery observation posts. Their guns targeted any suspicious movement on the German side. The Gebirgsjagers dug in in a marshy area, and avoided any daytime movements that could bring down a hail of French artillery. On the 4th of June, the build up to a major offensive was discernible on the German side. On the 5th of June, at first light, the Gebirgsjagers went forward in the morning mist to cross the canal, happy to be getting away from the mosquitoes which had infested their previous positions. The tirailleurs in the forward positions opened fire, and did their best in the fog.

2023-11-26(A) Diane Spangler vs Lawrence SpanglerA German win
2014-03-27(D) Kirby Vincent vs Antti German winThe river crossing is a very minor aspect of the scenario as it's basically over during the German MPh. As the French have so few troops any real attempt to block the river crossing would be overwhelmed, so the battle is actually for the heights. My artillery vanished without a trace, and by the end of the German's turn three, I was in the depths of dispair. However, I was able to get my reinforcements on and give the Germans a battle. But the God of luck did not favour me and the Germans won a close fought battle.
