Overview:

Northeast of Geilenkirhcen, the 43rd Infantry Division was advancing on a route parallel with that of the American 84th Infantry Division. The evening of the 18th found D Company, 5th Battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry consolidating their position after seizing a toehold on the village of Bruggerhof. Major Londsdale set about getting the company dug in to meet the inevitable German counterattack. At 1500, the 104th Panzergrenadier Regiment, supported by three assault guns, struck the Cornwalls.

2021-11-18(D) Andy Bagley vs Martin Vicca British winThe most difficult thing about this scenario is understanding the victory conditions! These rely on control of building hexes (not buildings) by the British, who are defending. And vehicular crews can't control these hexes, although gun crews can. Got that?
Well, the German attack started well, sweeping through the Eastern half of the mapboard, then turning north to take the two buildings in the woods on board 42. The first of these, in I10, duly fell and the Germans moved on to the second in U8, which fell on the last turn. Meantime however, the Brits had re-occupied the building in Y10, where there was a stationary German StuGIII in bypass. So the Brits controlled the building but neither side controlled the HEX! (A bypassing vehicle can't control a location but the Brits can't meet the requirements of A26.11 if there is an armed enemy unit there.) This would probably have been fatal for me if my opponent had not made the mistake of abandoning the vehicle, attempting to get the crew into CC. They promptly got shot dead by the Brits in the building, leaving the vehicle unarmed and me in control of the hex. So a win on a "technicality", and one I almost certainly didn't deserve!
2021-11-18(D) Ian Morris vs Joe Arthur British winJoe put his Flak wagon and HMG on board 42, and came on strong on board 22 with all three StuGs and most of his infantry. He brushed aside my right flank defence of a squad and a half with contemptuous ease, but got hung up chasing the brokies. I unloaded the Piat from the Carrier, so had two Piats and a hidden 6-pounder on that flank. One Piat took out a StuG, and another StuG went down to an APDS shot off the Gun. Meanwhile, I managed to stun his Flak wagon and eliminate it in CC. A real dogfight for the central building ended badly for him, and without much left, Joe conceded. Fun little scenario.
2021-01-27(D) Simon Staniforth vs British winA short fun scenario playable in a couple of hours. The British sniper was active recalling the Flakpanzer immediately and nailing the 9-2 leader a couple of turns later. Germans struggle to pass MCs as they closed on the buildings so the Brits hold for the win. Note the specific VC requirements if you play this one
2018-02-26(D) nathan wegener vs James Treu British winDecent combined arms scenario - good options. We played VC as stated "control" which had to be gained by MMC. My opponent failed his PMC after malf'ing a Stug and broke 2 of his squads which I surrounded. Too small to come back from this early bad luck.
2017-05-20(A) Dave Mareske vs Kevin Bradshaw German win
