Overview:

The 4th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron was given the mission to secure the villages of Dormagen and Hackenbroich, and then patrol within their zone to the Rhine River. In their path was the 11th Panzer Division's rear guard, holding positions northwest of Worringen. Unknown to the American cavalry scouts, five Tiger tanks from Panzer Abteilung 301 were still operational and were providing security for 11th Panzer. At 0700, the cavalry's M-24 Chaffee tanks of F Company ran into two of the Tigers. In a brief duel, the Chaffee's attempted to out-maneuver the Tigers and their slow traversing guns.

2023-06-16(A) Mark Thompson vs Joe Arthur (German) German winThe Germans board-edge defensive wedge set-up in rows AA-X presented a touch nut to crack, with a narrow approach to side-shots well screened by PF-toting infantry. The Americans did get a side-shot Bounding Fire hit on one Tiger, but boxcar’d the TK. That bit of bad luck (coupled with a MA malf/recall) and incautious moves by their infantry and timidity by the jeep and Hts left M-24s virtually alone against the German infantry and guessing too long as to the location of the dummy Tiger. Predicative results ensued - 3 flaming M-24s and a turn 4 concession. Ah, live and learn. If presented with this type of set-up, the Americans must sacrifice the Jeep (and perhaps the M3) to eliminate 5/8" dummies, sweep away the German infantry screen with the removed .50/.30 cals, and then move in for the dance of death kill with the removed BAZ and M-24s. In the meantime, smoke, smoke, smoke.
2021-12-31(D) Paul Legg vs Rob MacGinley German winIlluminating Rounds pbem tournament 2021. I set up with a tiger hulldown on the hill in the middle of the town, the other in the orchards to the north and a dummy tank in the orchards to the south. The infantry were then in a dispersed ring shield. Rob split his attack with 2 tanks, both halftracks and jeep coming in the northwest edge and the remainder in the south. The northern tiger fell in the first turn. My infantry were able to keep his agressive squads at bay and were able to take out 2 tanks, a halftrack and jeep, one tank was recalled following a sniper attack and the other halftrack also recalled after permently malf'ing his MA. The fourth tank fell to my tiger during his dance to escape the surrounding chaffees. With only a single tank, good order halfsquad and leader Rob conceded in the German 4th turn DFPh.
2021-12-17(D) Jason Nichols vs Martin Barker American winIlluminating Rounds PBEM tournament 2021. I made a fundamental error in not using the ? counters to setup dummy tanks instead of wasting them on dummy infantry units. The second mistake was to be aggressive with my Tigers which cost me one. I managed to back the remaining tank into a corner that prevented rear shots and took out a couple of American tanks. Martin drove a halftrack right up beside the Tiger and took a shot with a bazooka. Luckily it missed and the Tiger was able to destroy the H/T in the following PFPh. However this left the Tiger vulnerable to a rear turret shot which Martin's tank was able to hit in DF. That was the second Tiger down. A gallant attack by a squad and a PSK destroyed another M24 but Martin was left with one serviceable tank and he managed to move it far enough away so that my remaining infantry could not get to it. A good game and came down to the wire.
2021-11-28(D) Tuomo Lukkari vs Eric Topp German win[Imported from ROAR]
2017-10-08(A) Dan Best vs Dave Mareske German winI managed to kill both Tigers but the German infantry killed my two surviving tanks. Fun scenarios.
