Overview:
The Swedish Volunteer Corps Anti-Tank Gun Company had taken up position along the road leading from Kemijärvi to Märkäjärvi. On the afternoon of the 27th a "Ten-Ton Tank" showed up besides the road at the edge of the woods opposite the Swedish Position. The Swedes carefully took their aim, awaiting its next move. Suddenly the tank stopped, seemingly stuck in the snow. Instead of revealing the location of the anti-tank gun, indirect artillery fire was called in. But the shells fell with no effect. At that moment the stalled tank freed itself, and started moving.Attacker: Russian (122nd Rifle Division)

2024-03-01 | (A) David Ramsey | vs | Marc Blume | Swedish win | Lost 2 tanks to the Guns but had a slim chance to win via an ESB roll and successful close combat but - deservedly- neither happened

2021-03-17 | (D) Indy Lagu | vs | Rob Oler | Russian win | Rob and I started our Swedish Volunteers adventure with this one... My Swedish setup was a bit far back, and I think that contributed to my loss. As such, I didn't have much to do in my turn but stay in trenches and fire. The Swedes have four squads to cover a board width. I don't think they can have a forward setup and be successful. Sadly, I don't think they can be successful if they set up too far back. I simply don't see anything they can do. I would play this again, as I think there must be something that can be done. I rated this a 7. Rob would give it a 6. Give this a try...it plays quickly and has the Swedes!
2021-03-16 | (D) Stephen Stewart | vs | Stef | Swedish win (VASL Log) | This a a fantastic fast playing game with limited resources of each side. In our game we ran through the entire gamut of the rulebook practically. Bog, Mire, Shock, Harassing Fire, Fire land, Leader creation , Hero creation, BH, FIRE Spreading in EC-3DRM, Attacking friendlies in OBA. End game fun. Plays kinda like Dead of Winter but more fun!!!
2021-02-22 | (D) Stephen dedier | vs | Jim Holt | Russian win | This one looks like it has a lot of replay value. The Swedes need some luck other than bad to win i think. I had my defense with 2 squads and the MMG in the North and 2 squads in the South. AT guns were back defending the road exit and the South side. Jim did a Human Wave + Armored assault in the North My MMG squad cowered on their first roll with a NE. The other squad with the 8-1 managed to break one Russian squad. So, i had all 8 Russian squads on my doorstep at the end of the first half turn and they FG broke the MMG squad (I actually can't remember 1 MC that i passed). I got my artillery moved to the North with a 1 roll on the accuracy. Swede turn harassing fire didn't cause a single result even though it affected 4 squads and both tanks. Turn 2 Russian the artillery immobilizes one of the 2 tanks but all the infancy is now CX and well through the woods. I catch the other tank PB with one of my AT guns but even with 2 hits only immobilize (he will later spin the turret and break the gun crew) I fail to move the other AT gun I manage to move the ART into the path and even with a full power (12FB) affecting 4 squads and harassing fire affecting 6 i only manage to get another hit on the immobilized tank and cause the crew to bail out so they can advance into my AT gun. Final insult is that i have 2 squads and the 8-1 leader positioned to at least hit the squads trying to run from the woods and one 4-4-7 moves into CC. Swedes get the ambush and then ... roll a 12. This one was over by turn 3 If the Swedish ART is ineffective, it is really tough on them.
2021-02-22 | (A) Jason Nichols | vs | Eric Topp | Swedish win | A good, fast-playing game that presents both sides with a number of options. As the Russians I decided to try to move my tanks along the top edge of the board but managed to get one bogged. This was then abandoned by its crew when the German 'door knocker' started pinging it. Eric made good use of his OBA and this caused a number of Russian casualties. In the end a good roll for his FFE placement resulted in my Russkies having to run through a hail of artillery to win. Sadly they didn't make it. An enjoyable game, I didn't even think of the possibility of using a human wave until Eric mentioned it afterwards.

2021-02-09 | (D) Eric Topp | vs | John Shelton Agar | Swedish win | The Russians did a Human Wave in the south and made reasonable progress. The Sniper helped by breaking one of the two Swedish squads there. The Russians had a double threat to either continue their board edge creep to hexrow X or capture a Swedish AT. But the Swedes fought back. Harassing Fire stopped the Russians on hexrow CC. A Swedish squad rolled snakes to cut down the Commissar and a 458 squad as they sprinted across the snow. When a Russian tank spun its treads uselessly in a Trench (a "6" on the un-Bogging coloured die), my opponent conceded.
2020-11-19 | (A) Eric Topp | vs | John Fedoriw | Russian win | I was the Russians. I planned an attack on each flank with the object of exiting the required number of squads and/or tanks. Unfortunately for me, soon I had lost all my tanks to two well-positioned AT Guns. My infantry attack lost momentum in the face of Swedish OBA. Then I noticed that the Russians could win if they knocked out both of the AT. With the aid of a Russian Hero (generated by a lucky Heat of Battle roll), my infantry rose to the occasion. They broke one Swedish crew and CC-ed the other. With the capture (and pending destruction) of both Guns, John conceded. John's opinion is that the Swedes have little depth in their OB. With only four second-line squads to support the AT crews, the Russian numerical advantage could make the difference. It did this time.
2020-11-11 | (D) walter mcwilliams | vs | Tom Kerney | Russian win | It was a nail biter from the very beginning and came down to the last turn where Tom won a hard fought victory. A theme that Tom started in our previous match up continued timely sniper activation. It really helped him here taking out the crew of the AT gun holding the Swede left doubling down by allowing an AFV to exit and reducing the need VP.
