Overview:

Ragnarök (the Norse Armageddon) was upon the SS Division Nordland. The Reichstag had fallen, and most of Berlin was at the mercy of the Red Army. The remains of Nordland seemed doomed, and Hauptsturmführer Hans-Gösta Pehrsson gave his last order as commander of the recon battalion: “The war is over! Everyone, save yourselves.” Most of what was left of the battalion made their way to Weidendammer Brücke, a bridge a few hundred yards east of the Reichstag. The plan was to cross the bridge and break through to join the German forces north of the city. There had been four previous attempts by this route. All four had failed, but the attacks had inflicted some losses on the Russian defense, and the area was littered with burning wrecks and debris. At 0400 the fifth and final attack commenced, led by one of the halftracks belonging to the Swedish SS volunteers.

2025-03-23(D) Dave B vs Vlad See German (SS) winI've managed to lose this one twice, first with the Germans againt Rob, and then with the Russians against Vlad. Both games were hella fun though.
2025-02-28(D) Peter Palmer vs Herbert Heyman German (SS) win2.5 hrsSupposedly I have played this scenario before as part of a playthrough of all the scenarios in Journal 9 with John Knowles but I cannot remember it for the life of me. This is surprising as I really enjoyed my most recent playing with Herbert as part of the Friday Night Fight crew. This one went down to the last movement phase as it should and Herbert won in the end with a squad to spare. This was just so much fun and incredibly engaging as a scenario. Sure there will always be claims with smaller scenarios that the Dice are a factor but IMO it's more about making sure as the defender you have troops in the right decision and not leaving it too late to redeploy as other wise you will leave a hole somewhere on the last turn.

It's on the drop of my hat list because no playing will end up the same and it's dynamic. There's no sitting back and shooting as the defender, you have to redeploy, manoeuvre and counterattack. Great Fun. Definitely worth getting up early on a Saturday morning in NZ to play.
2025-02-28(A) David Garvin vs Paul Anderson Russian winAs part of Friday Night Fight club. Great match. Came to the end but my guys only got 2 off, needing 3. Great fun!
2025-02-09(A) Dave B vs Rob Holme Russian winFun scenario, with the randomly appearing and random strength Russian reinforcements represented by ? counters that start off in buildings adding some real uncertainty to the situation. This mechanism pretty much guarantees no two playings are going to be the same. Rob's skillful play held off my desperate SS, who found they couldn't escape the hell storm they had helped to create in their capital. They reaped the whirlwind.
2024-11-16(D) nathan wegener vs Matt Evans Russian winCrazy dicy game. Entertaining and close but not really a good tournament choice. I huddled in the middle to swarm the german attack lane of choice. Moved to react and got 2 squads cut down which made it very tough. Unfortunately for my opponent he then struggled get his kill stack off the board and was forced to rout to the board edge. A rally of one of 3 SS squads would allow him to move the leader and squad off. No luck to rally so I squeezed out a win. NrthTexTourney 24
