Overview:
Acting on orders to destroy the retreating German 19th Army south of Montelimar, the U.S. 3rd infantry Division pushed north along National Route 7 with all haste. One group, a tank and infantry task force from the 15th RCT, encountered and destroyed a roadblock five miles south of the village of Allan, home to the headquarters of the German LXXXV Armeekorps. Surprised that the Americans were so close and supported by armor, the headquarters quickly departed, leaving behind a formidable rearguard from the 11th Panzer and 338th Grenadier Divisions.Attacker: German (Elements of Panzerjäger Abteilung 61, 11th 'Ghost' Panzer Division and Grenadier Regiment 757, Grenadier Division 338)
