Overview:

After hitting severe Japanese resistance along the stream that became known as Suicide Creek, the 7th Marine Regiment’s slog through the dense jungle of Cape Gloucester came to a halt as the Marines tired and failed to take the stream “on the fly”. This temporary stabilization of the front provided an opportunity for the Japanese to counterattack the Marines while they began building up forces for a more concentrated attack across the stream. The Marines found themselves fighting for their lives against both a determined Japanese counterattack as well as small Japanese outposts which the Marines had bypassed as they hacked through the thick jungle.

2018-12-04(A) Andy Beaton vs Spencer Armstrong American (USMC) winAmericans brought in the 10-3 which was probably the right thing to do. I played every trick I had trying to get a DC onto the ammo dump - banzai charges, DC heroes, sneaky assault moves - but he killed everything that moved with hot dice and heavy firepower. My reinforcements, when they finally showed up, were too far away to serve any serious purpose in the battle. A fun but very dicey scenario.

2016-10-10(D) B-E Karlsson vs Japanese American (USMC) win
2016-02-13(A) Raoul Duke vs JB Japanese winAt best, dicey. At worst, catastrophically one-sided. This scenario brings out the best in the Japanese, and will give the Americans a very hard time. Japanese won in 4.5 turns, even with American balance and a misplaced supply dump.

Be sure to check the rules (SC 7.2, pg Z64) to clarify how the supply dump may be placed, as the scenario card does not provide enough information.

A better US balance provision may be "Reduce scenario length to 4.5 turns."
2014-07-16(D) mark watson vs Andy Beaton Japanese winInsane and swingy battle with huge CC destruction setting the pace for the scenario. Good fun.
