Overview:

The German surprise attack through the Ardennes and over the Meuse River at Sedan had succeeded. The last chance for the French to avoid a total disaster was to destroy the bridgehead before too many German troops arrived. Though time was of the essence, it took more than half a day before the French counterattack started and even then the right flank was delayed. The Germans were as fast as the French were slow. Led by General Guderian, German forces were assembled within minutes and thrown towards the advancing French. As French tanks ran into German anti-tank guns, French infantry units recaptured the village of Connage. The Germans responded immediately and attacked the village with assault engineers supported by tanks according to Guderian’s principle: Klotzen, Nicht Kleckern! (Smash, don't Fiddle!)
Attacker: German (Sturm-Pionier-Bataillon 43 and Panzer-Regiment 2)
Defender: French (213e Régiment d'Infanterie, 55éme Division d'Infanterie and 7e Bataillon de Chars de Combat)

2021-12-31(D) Indy Lagu vs Michael Wendlandt French winAs the French, my plan was to run away as fast as I could.
Jerry was unable to interdict my retreat, and I had too many
GO units on the other side of the stream.

The German balance is an extra DC. Perhaps they need an
extra HS?

If you have two people of unequal experience, give the newer
player the French.
2021-12-30(A) Indy Lagu vs Michael Wendlandt German winWe decided to turn this one around. Michael tried to
hold his ground with most of his French. Turned out to
be a mistake. The German 838 AE squads can move up
quite easily.

Again, I think it's tough on the Germans.

2017-05-11(A) Jeff B vs David Garvin German win2.25 hrsThe German blitzkrieg was just too much for the French to handle. Armed with plenty of toys and a 9-2 AL, they were able to eliminate the last infantry unit and all AFVs on the west side of the stream by Turn 4. Only a couple French leaders and a couple squads had managed to sneak away to the other side of the stream, and the only thing standing in the Germans' way was the gun. A well-placed DC ended their days on a CH, and would've destroyed the bridge if it wasn't for the unit being CX when placing it. After that the Panzer rolled across, parking himself in front of one the groups of Frenchies and managed to deliver yet another CH, putting an end to their existence. The last band of Frenchmen put up the white flag after that. Great scenario.

2012-10-28(A) David Ramsey vs Gerrard Burton French winNothing really went right for the Germans. 2 KIA results on the initial approach, the FT X'd out on its first shot and both tanks taken out (one by IF from the Gun, the other from a HE shot from the French tanks). Despite that, I still don't think I could have won. French run back, deploy and hunker down. Impossible I'd think for the Germans - especially if they lose a tank (or 2! :-( )

2012-04-21(A) Dan Best vs Dennis Dowd German winSioux City ASL Tournament 2012.
2012-01-24(D) Martí Cabré vs Alberto Biserni French winI moved three French HS back through the stream but the Germans overran the AT using the PzIII and pursued them. On the first village there was a tough firefight between the French soldiers and the German Pioneers, using MG, DC and CC (the FT was lost on the first shot). After one French tank recalled and another was a burning blaze, the game ended on the last CC roll of the last turn, as a concealed French HS gained ambush and retreated to an adjacent hex for a tight scenario win.
2012-01-14(A) Allen Evenson vs Richard Jenulis French win
2012-01-14(D) Richard Jenulis vs Allen Evenson French win
2011-12-04(A) Michael Rodgers vs J.R. Tracy French winWhen French move half their troops to rear on turn 1, its tough for the Germans to catch up. The German probably needs to risk the tanks to the French ATG to prevent the French evacuation.
(D) Jim Thompson vs Rusty Shields French win[Imported from ROAR]
