Overview:

General Stever’s 4th Panzer Division was attacking to seize Hannut in what was to become the largest tank battle of the war to date. 3è Division Légère Mécanique held the line around Hannut and Crehen, defending it with the 1st Battalion, 11è Regiment de 11e Dragoons Portés. 2è Regiment de Cuirassiers was covering this first line with two S-35 Somua squadrons and two H-39 Hotchkiss tank squadrons. The 4th Panzer Division’s spearhead, comprised of Colonel Eberbach’s 35th Panzer Regiment with supporting infantry battalion, was the first to attack the French troops.
