Overview:

The barely tested “T-Patchers” of the US 36th (Texan) Infantry Division were tasked with taking the hilltop village of Altavilla and the hill to the northeast beyond the village, labeled Hill 424 on their maps. The Texans met little resistance advancing to the village. The battalion commander deployed his men on the slopes of Hill 424 with the battalion HQ company occupying the town. Using knowledge of the area, men of the 2nd Battalion, 15th Panzergrenadiers began infiltrating the American positions on the hill throughout Saturday night and into the early morning of the 12th. At the sun's rising, the Germans opened fire on the National Guardsmen deployed on the hill. Artillery pounded the summit and small arms fire seemed to come from all directions.

2024-10-31(D) Steven Cummings vs Tim Osborne American win6 hrs
2024-10-22(A) Craig Renier vs Peter PalmerA German winThe Germans misread the setup and placed units greater than 2 hexes away from American units. This greatly hampered the first turn advance. Plus, a poorly judged LOS during movement gave the Americans an early easy shot that shattered a kill stack and wounded the German 9-1 leader. Fortunately, German IFT rolls were effective and the Americans did not substitute 3 60mm mortars for 4FP OBA (US Ordnance Note 1). The Germans were remarkably successful with OBA, obtaining 4 successive black cards for access providing a significant advantage attacking the American forces on the hill. The Germans used most of their "?" slowly advancing on the south side up the hill into the buildings This successfully bluffed the Americans who gradually withdrew fearing overwhelming firepower against their low morale. When the deception became evident, the Germans had secured the hill and shifted forces east into the buildings before the Americans could retake what had been given up. In Turn 6 the Germans managed to gain control of a 4th building and had enough FP remaining sufficiently concealed to preclude the Americans from wresting control back.
2024-10-14(A) S. Slunt vs Mark Thompson German winIt is challenge for the Germans to make sure they have enough units to take the village, but making sure they can clean out the Level three hills
The Germans had sent 4 1/2 squad to the town to sweep up what the could. Hills were cleared by the need of turn 4. The Germans were able to pull a lot of troops from the hill to the town but they only thing they we able to do if prevent the loss. They had no effect on the town other than that. Game almost came down to 2 key rolls. A Broken DM 8-1 leader rallied and then survived a 1MC to maintain control of the building at game end.
