Overview:
Responding to the furious German attack on the Ponyri train station that again captured the water tower, Lt. General Nikolai Pukhov launched a counterattack to take back the station and area immediately around it. Reinforcing the diminishing but steadfast 307th Division with KV s from the 27th Guards Tank Regiment added enough punch to push the Germans back from the train station and water tower and into the maintenance area to the north. 8 July would be another tough day for soldiers of both sides.Attacker: Russian (1019th and 1023rd Rifle Regiments with 27th Guards Tank Regiment)
