Overview:

To fulfill General Dawley's request to close the gap between the Sele-Calore Rivers, General Walker sent his divisional reserve to plug the hole. The 2nd Battalion, 143rd Infantry Regiment was deployed to cover the frontage with the company's HQ in the small village of Persano, two companies in reserve and G Company to the east. They failed to dig in properly and the defenses were not inspected. This lax behavior would soon be punished, as less than an hour after settling in, F Company reported hearing tank noises to the front and left. These Germans, which had defeated the 157th Regiment's 1st Battalion on the opposite bank, barreled into the American positions firing from halftracks and tanks.

2019-03-17(D) Ulric Schwela vs Lorenzo Marinaro American winEven giving the Germans the balance didn't make any difference, as the key difficulties for the Germans were American defensive FP as well as the American OBA blocking the northwestern approaches. The German had lost four of his best AFV by turn three, another three SPW had succumbed to MTR/MMG/BAZ fire, while infantry casualties were mounting fast. American casualties were limited to the AT Guns and a couple of green squads. One thing was clear: the German needs to move and move fast to capture those buildings, and can't go toe-to-toe with e.g. Americans in foxholes behind grain as they're too well protected and up close the Germans get whacked. It looked very difficult for the German.
2019-03-17(A) Lorenzo Marinaro vs Ulric Schwela American win
2018-07-22(D) Gordon Jupp vs Nick Holmshaw American winPlayed this over a weekend, you need a fair bit of time for it! Really good fun, lots of toys and options for both sides. My foward Company did an amazing job and held the German advance preventing the buildings on bd 44 from being captured....
2015-08-10(D) Stanley Neo vs Will F, David L American winteam play: with Alan S as Americans
2014-05-13(D) Lee Bray vs German winI was attracted to this scenario as it looked different and I wasn't wrong! The terrain is interesting and it pits a sizeable but green US force against well-equipped and seasoned Germans. I had the US, but I think it may have been a little beyond my skill level as disaster followed disaster, seasoned by my own ineptitude and some poor luck! The US have restricted setup areas which coupled with their fragility - and they are very fragile - made me feel I didn't have many options. However, I missed the one chance of mobility I had to withdraw the HQ coy from the river crossing to make some sort of stand in the Bd 3a village. In the end I simply stood firm and ended up being defeated in detail. The German OBA kept coming which didn't help matters and I kept missing subtle LOS to the detriment of my vehicles! Even so I was clinging onto the single hex stone building on the river edge by turn 9 when my Personal Morale finally snapped and I conceded after two of my remaining weapons malfunctioned. I received a thorough drubbing and felt bruised after this one - which explains my low enjoyment rating. However, I suspect Im missing something and I'd play it again!
2014-04-12(A) Jesus Pie vs Don Holland American winVery fun scenario, with a lot of options for both sides. I had options until the last turn, but Don's superb defense made impossible to capture the last buildings.
2013-08-21(A) Richard Carter vs Kevin Klausmeyer German winKevin conceded in midgame. I was making a good attack on most of his positions. I think it may have still been close in the endgame but I had been able to route most of american force. Germans must really push hard and fast into multiple areas. I had a lot of fun but it really takes a PMC for the US player if he does not do a lot of damage early on
2013-03-16(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Nicotum; Canevese; American win
2013-03-16(D) fabrizio da pra vs Nicola Marangon; Alessandro Canevese American winCon Paolo Cariolato
2012-11-26(D) Richard Carter vs Ale American winWell, Ale played much better than I did, but he found himself out of position at midgame. He conceded on turn 5. He may still have been able to make a go of it, but he would have had a hard time fulfilling both VP and buidling VC's. This one is tough on the Germans.
