Overview:
On 7 July, Grenadier-Regiment 508, infanterie-Division 292 seized the imposing two-story schoolhouse. This was one of the few major landmarks, important both strategically and tactically as it dominated the southern approaches to the train station. On 8 July, a determined counterattack by the 1023rd Rifle Regiment supported by heavy tanks of the 27th Guards Tank Regiment wrested back control, although attacks against the train station itself fared poorly. As 9 July dawned, Major Chayalo's 3rd Battalion awaited the renewed German assault against the schoolhouse.Attacker: German (Bataillon III, Grenadier-Regiment 508, Kompanie 1, Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 244 and Kompanie 2, Panzer-Abteilung 18)
