Overview:

Operation Lenz Sud had concluded. The Germans had to pause, regroup, resupply and once again put a partisan sweep into effect in the Borisov area. The result was Operation Lenz Nord. An earlier attempt near the tar furnace at Zabashevichi had failed as the Partisans fiercely defended their positions, a former headquarters. Typical of partisan tactics, the defenders seemed to simply melt away into the nearby forests and swamps as the Germans occupied the former strong-point. After clearing away minefields and dismantling the barricades and bunker the occupying Polizei soldiers settled into the few buildings still standing. Meanwhile, some local Russian town elders were being held, with strict orders in force not to kill the prisoners so they could be sent back to German headquarters for questioning. All seemed quiet and while the Germans let their guard down the local partisans attacked, using the morning mist to gain an advantage over the enemy.
