Overview:
In April 1944, Marshal Tolbukhin 4th Ukrainian Front and the Coastal Army in Kertch were ready to begin their offensive. They launched on 7 April and the fighting was bitter but, two days later, the 51st Army succeeded in penetrating the last defense line of the Romanian 19th division on the southern part of the Sivash laguna. Soviet engineers quickly laid pontoon bridges and, by 11 April, the 19th Tank Corps, Tolbukhin's exploitation force, was released. The Soviet breakout left only one "shelter" for the Axis units, the fortress of Sevastopol. When the mauled 19th Division, trying to break south, encountered Soviet units in Krasnovardiske, it succeeded in repulsing them with a strong frontal assault!Attacker: Romanian / German (Romanian Divizia 19 Infanterie and German Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung.191)
