Overview:

In April 1944, Marshal Tolbukhin 4th Ukrainian Front and the Coastal Army in Kertch were ready to begin their offensive. They launched on 7 April and the fighting was bitter but, two days later, the 51st Army succeeded in penetrating the last defense line of the Romanian 19th division on the southern part of the Sivash laguna. Soviet engineers quickly laid pontoon bridges and, by 11 April, the 19th Tank Corps, Tolbukhin's exploitation force, was released. The Soviet breakout left only one "shelter" for the Axis units, the fortress of Sevastopol. When the mauled 19th Division, trying to break south, encountered Soviet units in Krasnovardiske, it succeeded in repulsing them with a strong frontal assault!

2022-10-13(D) Ian Morris vs Gerard Russian winWe played the scenario as written, but wondered if the “within 2 hexes of/within 3 hexes of” locations had been transposed, which would have left the Romanians having to take six buildings instead of four. In the event it didn’t matter, as G took none - it was all over in two turns as his troops couldn’t pass a MC and his StGs got nailed by my surviving T-34.
